• we were created to serve and Worship our creator.
• We exchange the glory of God for things created.
• Instead of of Worshiping God and ruling over created things, created things have come to rule over us.
• God is not the just the God of Isreal.
• don't make God into who you want him to be.
• Don't want stuff more than God
• You will Worship and serve. What is it?
• Worship is the natural response of being captivated.
• The way to walk in the light is to keep yourself free from idols
• if you have a loving people problem, you have an idol problem.
• Idolatry is the root.
• An idol is when you take something created that I serve instead of God. Anything other than God that I put in the place of God.
• Idols are thing we put our hope in, we put our comfort in,
• We either look to God or we look to romance...popularity... status..sucess..whatever it is you are faithful to. ( that will drive everything in you life)
• Every sin comes from idolatry. ( if we steal, if we covet, if we kill... it comes from idolatry)
• an Idol is anything in my life that occupies a place in my life that should be occupied by God.
• When we say Lord I trust you but.......
• Most of the time we are clueless about our own idols. ( but we know everyone else)
• You know your idols when we are threatened.
• Who are you if you don't have your.....?????
• everyone lifts up something and worships it as the Creator
• When I get this THEN.. Ill be someone.... happy....whatever....
• The most basic question. Has someone other than Jesus taken control of your heart.
• What are you trusting other than God?
• Questions to ask: What do I worry about, what if I failedl. what do I really on. what are my relise valve. where does my mind go.what do I want people to know?
• what prayer unanswered would make me turn from God. what do I want out of Life.
• what are the clear patterns of disobedience in my life.
• Idols Hide
• motivations are your heart.

• How do you deal with them?
• Repent and believe the Gospel.
• Repentance is when you see your sin, won it and turn from it.
• The longer you are a Christian the more  you realize how jacked up you are (if you are growing)
• Judgement day has happened.
• Though your a bigger sinner than you thought, Jesus is a bigger saviour than you thought.

Looks Like I'm In

We'll if this guy can do it, so can I. I'm going to traverse the Chicago Marathon. Much like Shari, I'll be doing a combination of running and walking. I started training yesterday so far so good. I'll keep you posted.

Getting Closer to Random Thoughts.

I'm getting closer to taking the plunge.  I have a sweet idea to make it a benefit  to someone else to.
By the way I haven't had a sodie pop in over a year.

So Its been quiet here as I re-form my blogging strategy cuz lately I've been feeling like this guy.

In the meantime.. here is a question for you. My wife, Brian and buddy Lee are trying to talk me into running the Chicago Marathon in October. Never mind I've never run farther than 3 miles at a time in my life:).. what do you think? Should I do it? (I have to start training tomorrow if I go for it.)

God Has A Sense of Humor

In the 80's I was a professional musician in a "hair" band. (see Picture). Today I am losing my hair.(see other picture) So I wake yesterday morning, and out of the two bald spots on the side of my head there are two hairs growing on each side of my head that are exactly the same length and perfectly symmetrical. I looked like an ant! I swear they were not there the night before. A miracle? You decide.

The Devil Came On Horseback

Watched this last night. A really well done documentary on the genocide in Darfur.(Is it possible to do a well done documentary on genocide?) anyway..... Gave a whole new meaning to this verse. Why do we spend so much time killing each other? ( Yea I know.. Sin, ...its a rhetorical question).  After reading the book Not on our Watch and  seeing this movie.... well I'm not a hugely political person but I've actually taken a step and written to my Senator and the White House to lobby for action in light of whats going in Sudan and Darfur. Typically I can't stand the attitude of people that do that (sorry no offense) , often times I wonder how effective such measures actually are , people are being slaughtered.. I feel like I needed to do something. I'll continue to probe and see what else I can personally do.I'm praying that we as humans can get past the whole slaughtering each other (physically, emotional,financially, spiritually) because of who we happen to be born as and or some sort of personal gain.

'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these.
